Course Overview Designed for students whose first language is not English, this course will give you an opportunity to improve all aspects of your English including speaking, listening, reading and writing. You will also have the chance to study maths, personal and social development and ICT alongside English.
What you will Study The course covers all aspects of the English Language and you’ll study a range of interesting and engaging topics such as holidays and travel, education, hobbies and free time. You’ll also develop your skills in grammar, vocabulary building, conversation, pronunciation, reading, and writing through detailed practice.
How you will Learn You’ll learn through a variety of classroom-based and practical activities including class discussions, interviews, role play, and speaking tasks.
How you will be Assessed You’ll be assessed through classroom assessments, practice exams, regular homework, tutorials, and external tests.
Entry Requirements

No formal entry qualifications but you should show you’re prepared to give your full commitment to the course.

You’ll have an initial ESOL assessment before you join the course to make sure you’re put in the appropriate group at a level suitable for you.

A basic level of English is required in all skills and this will be assessed during your interview.

Attendance Expectations

Usually attendance is over three days, but this is subject to change.

A typical week consists of 12 hours English Language teaching, 2 hours of ICT and 2 hours of maths and one hour of employability skills development.

After finishing this course, students have the opportunity to progress to other courses that we offer within the College.
