Course Overview

If you are passionate about improving your mathematical ability to the highest level this is the course for you. You will need to spend the full allocation of time given to a complete A Level in order to study Further Maths.

Applicants will frequently have gained a Grade 8 or 9 at GCSE, be regular participants in maths challenges and have studied some additional Maths at school. This course is usually taken as one of four subjects to ensure that you are still studying broadly.

What You Will Study

This Further Mathematics course consists of pure Maths alongside optional topics from Mechanics, Statistics or Discrete Mathematics. These will all be examined at the end of the two years but there will be many developmental assessments during the course to allow you to hone your skills. It is possible to convert from this course onto a one-year Maths qualification if you decide not to continue into the second year and this is enough for many university courses.

Entry Requirements

5 GCSEs at Grade 9-4, including English Language and Grade 8 in Maths.

PLUS

Must be studied alongside A Level Maths.

Further Study

Many of our students progress onto a university degree in Maths, Science, Engineering, Finance or ICT.
