On completion of this apprenticeship the individual will be a competent and
job-ready Senior Healthcare Support Worker. The apprenticeship standard provides
a high level description of the skills, knowledge, values and behaviours
required of the Senior Healthcare Support Worker apprentice (Level 3) in the
following areas:
- Adult nursing support
- Maternity support
- Theatre support
- Mental health support
- Children and young people support in healthcare settings
- Allied health profession – therapy support
These optional units aim to assess and develop the knowledge and skills of
people working within their chosen area.
The award is based on actual work-based performance. Your Assessor will work
with you to plan and assess your practical work in the workplace. The bulk of
your learning will therefore be in the workplace, but training and support will
be provided to ensure that you are meeting the required standard. You will work
on a one-to-one basis with your Assessor, whose visits will be flexible to meet
your needs and the needs of your employer.
