This course can either be studied at Wakefield College or Selby
College.
This course allows students who currently hold a foundation degree or Higher
National Diploma (HND) in Sports Coaching and Exercise Sciences or related
discipline to complete further study to top up their qualification and obtain a
full honours degree.
The course combines work-based learning with academic study and focuses on
meeting the knowledge and skills shortages of the industry. This course has
excellent links with local sporting organisations and schools, so you can expect
to develop the skills which employers really value. Students will develop
important academic writing skills and the application of theory to practice;
evaluate concepts and theories; the multidisciplinary nature of Sports Coaching
and Exercise Sciences. This provides a challenging, vocationally led curriculum,
that uses work based knowledge and real life scenarios, allowing development of
a range of transferable skills, abilities and competencies necessary for a
successful career.
Employability is a key theme of the programme and the team are currently
working closely with many professional teams such as Wakefield Trinity,
Castleford Tigers and a number of key providers for students to undertake
voluntary work to complement their academic programme.
