This Apprenticeship provides individuals with the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to become a construction site supervisor. You will spend your time learning through a combination of on the job and off the job training, putting new skills into practice within the workplace.

This course can only be completed if you have employment in the industry and your employer is supporting you.

You will attend college on a day-release basis to complete a HNC in Construction Management for England, alongside work-based learning components.

The HNC Construction Management for England Activity to support guided learning will be 90% classroom-based learning supervised by a tutor with 10% live e- learning supervised by a tutor.

The content of the programme is specified by Pearson with four units delivered in each of the years 1 and 2:

• Construction Environment/Digital Applications for Construction Information
• Construction Technology/Legal and Statutory Requirements in Construction
• Financial Management & Business Practices in Construction/Construction Design Project
• Building Information Modelling/ tender and Procurement

You will be expected to complete independent study to complete the programme. This is essential to ensure success on your course.

Apprenticeship Knowledge, Skills & Behaviours's will be assessed using:

• Internally Set Assessments
• Written Reports
• Evidence of Learning in a Portfolio
• Professional Discussions
• Direct Observations
• Q&A Sessions

All apprentices are required to complete an End Point Assessment (EPA) which must be passed to achieve the full qualification.

HNC Assessment takes place throughout the academic year to assess how you have applied the knowledge.  Anticipated breakdown is 10% class exercise; 20% presentation; 70% assignment work.

A portfolio of evidence will also be developed throughout the practical period of the apprenticeship to demonstrate that each of the knowledge, skills and behaviours in the Standard, have been met in readiness for the end point assessment. This online portfolio of evidence will be supervised by designated assessor and mentor.

Completion of the apprenticeship standard will be confirmed following the satisfactory conclusion of an end-point assessment (EPA).

For students who have recently been in education, the entry requirements are to include one of the following:

• A BTEC Level 3 qualification in Construction and The Built Environment
• A Level Grade E or above in more than one relevant subject

 This needs to be supported by GCSEs at Grade 9-4 (or equivalent) in English and Maths.

Other entry qualifications that will be considered are:

• Other related Level 3 qualifications
• An Access to Higher Education Diploma awarded by an approved further education institution
• Related work experience
• An international equivalent of the above
