The UK ranks as the seventh-largest tourism market in the world, contributing
over £70 billion annually to the economy. With more than two million people
employed in the Travel and Tourism sector across the country, there are abundant
career opportunities both in the UK and internationally.
By enrolling in this Travel and Tourism course, you will gain essential
knowledge and qualifications to launch your career in this dynamic and growing
industry. Throughout the year, we organize a variety of day trips and an annual
residential trip, offering valuable industry insights and hands-on
experience.
The course structure combines a diverse range of learning methods, including
classes, lectures, seminars, workshops, presentations, and independent research.
You will have the unique opportunity to study in our purpose-built aircraft
cabin room, where you can develop the skills and knowledge required for a career
as Cabin Crew. The course will also incorporate digital resources, allowing you
to research and study the latest trends and news in travel and tourism. Some
lessons will take place in classrooms where you’ll prepare for real-world work
in the industry, and you will gain proficiency in using industry-standard travel
directories and manuals.
Our strong links with major industry companies such as Fly Me, Jet2 Holidays,
Travel Counsellors, and the Tourism Department provide students with the chance
to learn from professionals with real-life experience.
Additionally, we arrange a variety of visits and residential trips throughout
the academic year. Past day visits have included trips to Chatsworth House, The
Yorkshire Wildlife Park, Yorkshire Sculpture Park, and London. Previous
overnight trips have taken students to destinations such as New York, Amsterdam,
and Disneyland Paris (subject to availability).
