Course Overview The Higher National Diploma (HND) in Music (Production) is a natural progression from the Higher National Certificate (HNC) and is designed for students who wish to further develop their creative, technical, and professional skills in music production. Building on the foundations of recording, mixing, and digital production established at HNC level, the HND enables learners to work at a more advanced and independent level.
What You Will Study The course focuses on advanced production techniques, sound design, mixing and mastering, and large-scale creative projects that reflect professional industry practice. Students will refine their artistic identity, strengthen critical and analytical skills, and develop a professional portfolio suitable for employment or self-employment within the music industry. Successful completion of the HND also provides a clear route to progression into the final year of a relevant undergraduate degree.
How You Will Be Assessed Students are assessed using a mix of practical, theoretical, and professional tasks designed to reflect real-world music industry practices.
Entry Requirements Applicants are normally expected to have successfully completed the Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Music Production or a closely related subject. Students should demonstrate appropriate practical skills, technical knowledge, and creative development gained during their HNC studies. Alternative qualifications may be considered, such as a relevant Level 4 qualification, a foundation degree, or equivalent industry experience. Applicants may be required to attend an interview and provide evidence of prior learning, such as a portfolio of music production work.
Attendance Expectations

3 days per week.
