Course Overview

This Supported Internship Programme has been developed in partnership with Project Search and local employers Next. It is based at the Next warehouse and distribution centre in South Elmsall.

The programme is aimed at young people aged 19-24 with an EHCP who aspire to paid employment. Working with a teacher and a Job Coach student will have the opportunity to learn skills within a real working environment. Students will also develop their English and maths skills.

What you will Study Through a process of systematic instruction, students will learn the skills to work in warehousing and distribution. They will also develop their English, maths and Communication skills.
How you will Learn Students will work with a Job Coach and teacher through a combination of classroom sessions and real experience in the workplace.
Course Structure The course is five days per week and students are required to attend 9am-4pm.
How you will be Assessed Students will be assessed by a combination of written and practical assessments. The programme is non-accredited, and students will work to short-term targets linked to vocational outcomes. Developmental feedback will be provided on an ongoing basis.
Entry Requirements There are no formal entry qualifications, but your place must be commissioned by the Local Authority.
Attendance Expectations Students are required to attend five days per work and have attendance more than 90%.

This is part of a full-time study programme. It may be available as a standalone fee-paying course that is not part of a full-time study programme subject to sufficient interest.

Fee Information

Tuition and certification are free if you are aged 16-18. Related additional costs may include materials, equipment, visits, and residentials, which are payable by all students.

Any student registered with an Awarding Body who has been given free entry and subsequently withdraws or is withdrawn by a tutor will incur the certification fee associated with the course. Any re-sit examination will incur a cost.

Different fees apply to international/overseas students and those studying this qualification as a standalone course.
