Programme Design and Overview

This course consists of modules which are ideal for those who:

• Seek to further develop a career in HR management and development
• Are working in the field of HR management and development and need to extend their knowledge and skills
• Have responsibility for implementing HR policies and strategies
• Need to understand the role of HR in the wider organisational and environmental context.

Indicative Content

The CIPD Level 5 Associate Diploma in People Management covers the following topics:

• Organisational performance and culture in practice
• Evidence-based practice
• Professional behaviours and valuing people
• Employment relationship management
• Talent management and workforce planning
• Reward for performance and contribution
• Learning and Development Essentials

Delivery Methods The course provides a series of development modules that address knowledge and skills. Teaching is interactive and mostly online via MS Teams, where group work and class discussion feature prominently.
Nature of Assessments on the Programme The course is continuously assessed and there is no final examination. Successful completion of all assignment and class-based work will result in achieving the CIPD Level 5 Associate Diploma in People Management.
Entry Requirements

The course is aimed at adult learners, who are likely to hold the Level 3 Certificate in Human Resource Practice, or equivalent (although this is not a requirement) and be an HR practitioner. You must also have GCSE maths and English grades A*-C or 9-4.

Applicants without prior HR qualifications but with significant experience of a HR environment will also be suitable for this level of study. Some units may require access to workplace data (e.g in Using Information in Human Resources).

Similarly, line managers with significant responsibility for the implementation of HR policies and practices will be welcome.

Attendance Expectations

You will be required to attend weekly online teaching sessions via MS Teams – Thursdays 1:15pm-6:45pm.

Tutorials are offered as individual appointments.

Fee Information

These fees relate to 2022/2023

£2,130.00

PLUS student membership fee paid directly to the CIPD.
Students must have registered and paid for student membership to start the course. Membership fees are available on the CIPD website.

You are liable for the full cost of the course if you decide to withdraw two weeks or more after the start date.

Graduation Ceremony: When you graduate, we will invite you to your graduation ceremony. It is free for you to attend, however, to take part you will need to pay to hire an academic robe to wear during the ceremony. Details can be found here: www.edeandravenscroft.com/graduation-services

Additional Course Costs

The following costs should be used as a guide only.

Printing and photocopying costs:
There is no charge for course hand-outs, handbooks etc. Students will receive a printing credit of £10 per annum from the University Centre, after which students will have to pay for extra credits.

Library overdue charges:
Overdue charges apply to all library loans to encourage you to return any resources you borrow on time. Overdue charges are 5p per day per book.  There is no charge for e-books rentals.

Graduation Ceremony:

Career Opportunities This qualification provides a continuing professional development opportunity for those who wish to pursue Associate Membership of the CIPD and will enhance career prospects for more senior/advanced roles in the HR function.

Please contact the Course Leader to discuss this year’s timetable and to talk through the admissions process. For students wishing to start in September, applications open in August. For January starts please contact the Course Leader around two months before the course is due to start.
