This course is also beneficial to those who use interpersonal skills as an important part of their role or wish to improve their interpersonal skills.
What you will Study

The course covers the fundamental skills of listening, giving attention to others and responding sensitively.  There are three mandatory units:-

  • An introduction to personal development
  • Communication skills in helping relationships
  • The professional context of counselling
How you will Learn There will be a combination of structured and experiential learning activities which will include discussion, worksheets, group and individual exercises. The emphasis will be on practical exercises and on creating a supportive learning atmosphere to develop skills and explore relevant issues.
How you will be Assessed Through completed coursework and the compilation of a portfolio of evidence.
Entry Requirements There are no entry requirements, although the course is particularly aimed at adult learners. Learners need to be aware that they will be required to produce regular written evidence of their learning. They will also need to be willing to work with others in a group setting.
