The speaking and listening classes will help you to develop confidence with your verbal communication, and you will practise making requests, conversation and discussion. Giving a presentation will also be included at Level 1 and 2.

The reading and writing classes will help you to develop reading for meaning and accuracy, looking for implicit meaning in texts, writing a range of texts, spelling, grammar and punctuation.

How you will Learn You will work both as part of a group and as an individual. Tutors will use a variety of teaching methods, including explanation of language, discussions, presentations, authentic reading texts and exam practice.
How you will be Assessed The Speaking and Listening qualification is assessed by your tutor and City and Guilds through Speaking and Listening set tasks. Reading and Writing are assessed through timed tasks and/or through end tests, some marked by City and Guilds.
Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirements, but you will have an interview and an assessment before you enrol for a class.

Many students complete a Speaking and Listening qualification before progressing to Reading or Writing but you will be advised which qualification is best suited to your needs. Classes start at various points throughout the year.
