Course Overview This course will build on your existing knowledge and help you to acquire welding skills at an advanced level.
What you will Study

You will study the theory and practice of welding in one of the following:-

  • Metal Inert Gas Welding (MIG)
  • Tungsten Inert Gas Welding (TIG)
  • Manual Metal Arc Welding (ARC)
How you will Learn This is a practical, hands-on course and you will work in our fully equipped fabrication and welding workshop.
Course Structure 90% workshop 10% classroom
How you will be Assessed By practical assignments and a multiple choice examination.
Entry Requirements City & Guilds 3268 Level 2 or substantial previous welding experience at a Level 2 standard.
Attendance Expectations Monday and Tuesday for 10 weeks only. Two groups at 3 hours a week for ten weeks.
Fee Information

These fees relate to 2023/24

Tuition Fee: £815

Related additional costs may include materials, equipment, visits, residentials etc which are payable by all students. Any student entered/registered with an Awarding Body who has been given free entry and then withdraws or is withdrawn by a tutor will incur the certification fee associated with the course. Any re-sit examination will incur a cost.

If you are 19 or over and do not already have a level 3 qualification or higher, you may be able to access a free level 3 qualification with us.

If you earn below the National Living Wage (less than £19,305 annually) or are unemployed, from April you may also be able to access these qualifications for free.

If you are not eligible for a free L3 course, an Advanced Learner Loan may be available to cover your course fees

Further Study NVQ Level 3, subject to your obtaining suitable employment, or an apprenticeship in Engineering.
