Course Overview
This is a practical, highly flexible course specifically designed to meet the needs of learners wishing to acquire welding skills at a beginner level.
What you will Study
You will study the
theory and practice of welding in one of the following:-

Metal Inert Gas
Welding (MIG)
·
Tungsten Inert Gas
Welding (TIG)
·
Manual Metal Arc
Welding (ARC)
How you will Learn
This is a practical, hands-on course and you will work in our fully equipped fabrication and welding workshop.
Course Structure
95% workshop 5% classroom
How you will be Assessed
You will complete five practical welding test pieces. There is also an oral assessment requiring you to answer questions on welding processes and health and safety.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements but you will need a keen interest in developing welding skills.
Attendance Expectations
Tuesday evening 6.00 to 9.00pm and Thursday evening 6.00 to 9.00pm total 6 hours per week for 10 weeks.
Further Study
City & Guilds 3268 Level 2 Award in Welding Skills or (employment permitting) Performing Engineering Operations NVQ level 2.
