Our Digital Design and Web Development course prides itself on its student’s autonomy, and self-driven project-based work. Allowing you to tailor your education to your own individual requirements and career goals. Throughout the course you will develop your own web designs into working web sites while exploring the different specialisms within the industry.

What you will Study

You will create a series of digital and web based projects with each project developing specific skills and processes. Alongside this you will be able to explore all facets of digital design and web development to support your projects and develop your skills.

Specific areas of study will be centred around web coding languages (HTML, CSS), Content Management System (CMS) usage, UX design and development, design theory among others.

Most employers are looking for ability in these areas and the majority of university courses require you to have good Maths and English GCSEs, which is why the development of these skills are so important, whatever your field of study.

How you will Learn You will be taught a project based learning approach, working on live client briefs, working to strict deadlines. You will be taught in a workshop environment, through a series of lectures, practical activities and self-study tasks. Guest speakers from industry and other Higher Education Institutions will also contribute to your learning.

Nature of Assessments on the Programme You will be assessed through a series of practical and academic assignments that count towards your final grade. Your tutor will provide you with regular developmental feedback and maintain a record of assessment.
Entry Requirements

4 GCSEs at grade 9-4, including English and maths
OR
4 GCSEs at grade 9-4 and Level 2 in either English or maths or grade 3 or Level 1 in the other
OR
Level 2 Diploma or equivalent at Merit grade, plus GCSE English or maths at grade 4 plus Level 1 or Level 2 English or maths

A portfolio of work

Attendance Expectations The course is full-time and you must be available to attend college Monday to Friday for approximately 15 hours per week. A similar amount of self-study time will also be required.

Fee Information

Tuition and certification are free if you are aged 16-18. Related additional costs may include materials, equipment, visits, and residentials, which are payable by all students.

Any student registered with an Awarding Body who has been given free entry and subsequently withdraws or is withdrawn by a tutor will incur the certification fee associated with the course. Any re-sit examination will incur a cost.

Different fees apply to international/overseas students and those studying this qualification as a standalone course.
