Course Overview

This course is aimed at students who are looking to secure an Apprenticeship.

You will develop employability skills, such as researching job opportunities, developing communication skills and preparing for job interviews.

You will have the opportunity to engage in mock interviews and engagement with employers and the College's Apprenticeship team, who can offer advice on available opportunities. You will also continue to study English and maths, unless you have already secured a C / grade 4.

What you will Study

The Pre-Apprenticeship programme includes two Award courses, each delivered over an eight-week period. The courses are L2 Award in Progression and L2 Award in Work Preparation. 

Students who have not achieved a Grade 4 or above in GCSE maths and English will be expected to continue studying these subjects.

How you will Learn You will learn through a mixture of classroom based and practical activities.
Course Structure Each course runs for eight weeks and includes an Ascentis Award, an ILP session and English and maths (if applicable)
How you will be Assessed You will be assessed through portfolio and assignment.
Entry Requirements

Students must be enrolled on a Study Programme at Wakefield College at either Level 2 or  Level 3 and be referred by a Head of Curriculum.

All students will have an interview prior to a transfer to the Pre-Apprenticeship programme.

Attendance Expectations As a full-time student you will be expected to attend all classes as specified on your timetable and all personal tutorial sessions.

This is part of a full-time study programme.

It may be available as a standalone fee paying course that is not part of a full-time study programme subject to sufficient interest. For further information call the Course Information Team on 01924 789111.

Fee Information

Tuition and certification are free if you are aged 16-18. Related additional costs may include materials, equipment, visits, and residentials, which are payable by all students.

Any student registered with an Awarding Body who has been given free entry and subsequently withdraws or is withdrawn by a tutor will incur the certification fee associated with the course. Any re-sit examination will incur a cost.

Different fees apply to international/overseas students and those studying this qualification as a standalone course.
