This advanced apprenticeship standard will develop the knowledge, skills and
behaviours required to be a qualified advanced site carpenter, whilst developing
behaviours required by this role.
There is a mandatory competence qualification to be achieved this is the NVQ
Level 3 Diploma in Wood Occupations – Site Carpentry.
Whilst there is no mandatory on-programme assessment for knowledge in
relation to the Site Carpentry standard, this programme will follow the
recommended training specification of the City and Guilds Level 3 qualification.
This will enable you to develop knowledge and skills that will include.
• Health and safety
• Technical principles of advanced site carpentry
•
How to carry out advanced calculations and work out cutting angles for complex
carpentry work
• How to form complex joints
• Utilise a range of advanced
trade skills which allow them to carry out complex carpentry work
• Install
complex and non-standard doors and window frames
• Install accessible service
encasements, bespoke wall/ floor units and fitments
• Erect inclined roofs
with gables, roof verges and eaves,
In addition, apprentices must complete, or have previously completed,
recognised English and Mathematics Level 2 qualifications (this could be GCSE,
Functional Skills or other).
