Course Overview

This Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Trowel Occupations (Construction) qualification is suitable for those who are employed working with or as a bricklayer.

This qualification enables you, to recognise your skills, knowledge and understanding as well as demonstrate your competence in the workplace when carrying out the role of a bricklayer.

What you will Study

The NOCN_Cskills Awards Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Trowel Occupations (Construction) qualification structure below specifies the combination of units that need to be achieved for the individual to be awarded the qualification.

On this level 2 advanced programme you will study

• Conforming to General Health, Safety and Welfare in the Workplace
• Conforming to Productive Practices in the Workplace
• Erecting masonry structures in the workplace
• Moving and Handling resources in the workplace
• Setting up and using transportable cutting and shaping machines in the workplace

In addition one optional units will be selected from those specified.

How you will Learn You will learn through formal delivery in the college environment both in the classroom and the practical workshop. This will supplement the learning that is taking place in the workplace.
How you will be Assessed

You will be assessed against a set of performance and knowledge statements which have been derived from National Occupational Standards for your occupational area (Recommended Qualification Structure (RQS) for Trowel Occupations (Construction) Level 2).

You will be assessed by an occupationally competent and qualified assessor whose job is to work with the learner and help the learner complete the qualification.

The learner will be required to produce a Portfolio of Evidence showing how you have met the performance and knowledge criteria for each unit required within the qualification, as directed by your assessor.

In order to achieve/pass this qualification learners must successfully complete/achieve all five (5) Mandatory units and one (1) Optional unit.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements to take this NOCN_Cskills Awards Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Trowel Occupations (Construction) qualification. This qualification can be undertaken without any previous training or qualifications in this subject area.

However, you must be employed in an environment that will support the development of bricklaying skills.

Attendance Expectations

This qualification can be attended on a day release basis, attending one day per week expected to be a Friday, for a period of 35 weeks.

Alternatively, attendance can be one evening per week expected to be a Monday evening, with a block week in December and a further block week in January.
