Course Overview This course is for people who work with young children in early years settings. This maybe in a nursery, or school Foundation Unit, or as a Childminder for example.
What you will Study • You will look at keeping children safe and well • Inclusion and Equality • Child development and Behaviour in detail, and how to help children progress in all areas. To do this you will study the EYFS, Theorists and demonstrate how you put this in to practice • You will learn about team work, working alongside other professionals and parents • You will continuously reflect on your practice and personal development
How you will Learn Your course is organised on an individual basis. You will plan your work with your assessor who will support you to achieve. You will be set regular deadlines and will receive feedback and support on a regular basis.
How you will be Assessed

Your assessor will set you deadlines for your written tasks which are then assessed. There are also assessments of your performance in your workplace.

You are expected to meet at regular intervals with your assessor.

Entry Requirements You need to be working in a childcare setting. A requirement of the course is to have obtained a minimum level 2 functional skills in maths and English by the time you complete.
Attendance Expectations You will normally meet with your assessor once a month.
Fee Information

These fees relate to 2023/24

Course costs for students aged 19 or over - £3,600.00 *There is an additional charge of £167 per month for every month over the 18 month enrolment*

If you are 19 or over and do not already have a level 3 qualification or higher, you may be able to access a free level 3 qualification with us.

If you earn below the National Living Wage (less than £19,305 annually) or are unemployed, from April you may also be able to access these qualifications for free.

If you are not eligible for a free L3 course, an Advanced Learner Loan may be available to cover your course fees

Further Study The next stage could be a Foundation Degree.
Career Opportunities This is the most current Early Years Qualification and will be the most appropriate for childcare settings.
