Course Overview

This Level 1 NVQ Diploma in Construction and Civil Engineering Operations (Construction) qualification is suitable for those who are starting employment working as a site operative.

This qualification enables you, to recognise your skills, knowledge and understanding as well as demonstrate your competence in the workplace whilst developing in the role.

What you will Study

The NOCN_Cskills Awards Level 1 NVQ Diploma in Construction and Civil Engineering (Construction) will support you to learn key practical skills and knowledge in the following units:

- Laying, placing or applying construction related materials in the workplace
- Preparing and mixing construction related materials in the workplace
- Cutting, drilling and shaping construction related materials in the workplace
- Conforming to general health, safety and welfare in the workplace
- Moving, handling and storing resources in the workplace

Course Structure Classroom based: 5%
Practical work: 15%
Work based: 80%
How you will be Assessed

You will be assessed against a set of performance and knowledge statements which have been derived from National Occupational Standards for your occupational area (Recommended Qualification Structure (RQS) for Wood Occupations (Construction) Level 1).

You will be assessed by an occupationally competent and qualified lecturer/assessor who will work with you and help you complete the qualification.

You will be required to produce a Portfolio of Evidence showing how you have met the performance and knowledge criteria for each unit required within the qualification, as directed by your lecturer/assessor.

Entry Requirements There are no formal entry requirements to take this NOCN_Cskills Awards Level 1 NVQ Diploma in Construction and Civil Engineering (Construction) qualification. This qualification can be undertaken without any previous training or qualifications in this subject area.
Attendance Expectations This qualification can be attended on a day release basis, expected to be a Friday, for a period of 30 weeks. Alternatively, attendance can be one evening per week expected to be a Monday evening, with a block week in December and a further block week in January.
