Course Overview

This Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Construction and Civil Engineering Operations (Construction) - General Construction qualification is suitable for those who are employed in this area.

This qualification enables you, to recognise your skills, knowledge and understanding as well as demonstrate your competence in the workplace when carrying out the role.

What you will Study

This NOCN_Cskills Awards Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Construction and Civil Engineering Operations (Construction) -General Construction pathway supports you to attain enabling, fundamental and transferable practical skills with associated underpinning knowledge.

You will learn key practical skills and knowledge in these mandatory and optional units:

You will study:

Conforming to General Health , Safety and Welfare in the workplace
Conforming to productive Working Practices in the Workplace
Installing, Maintaining and Removing work area protection and Safety equipment in the workplace

You will then study:

Installing drainage in the workplace
Or
Placing and Finishing Non specialist concrete in the workplace

How you will Learn You will learn through the development of skills and knowledge in both the workplace and the college workshops.
Course Structure Classroom based: 5%
Practical work: 15%
Work based: 80%
How you will be Assessed

You will be assessed against a set of performance and knowledge statements which have been derived from National Occupational Standards for the chosen occupational area (Recommended Qualification Structure for Construction and Civil Engineering Operations (Construction) Level 2).

You will be assessed by an occupationally competent and qualified assessor whose job is to work with the learner and help the learner complete the pathway.

You will be required to produce a Portfolio of Evidence showing how they have met the performance and knowledge criteria for each unit required within the pathway, as directed by your assessor.

Entry Requirements There are no formal entry requirements to take this NOCN_Cskills Awards Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Construction and Civil Engineering Operations (Construction) -General Construction pathway. This pathway can be undertaken without any previous training or qualifications in this subject area.
Attendance Expectations

This qualification can be attended on a day release basis, attending one day per week expected to be a Friday, for a period of 30 weeks.

Alternatively, attendance can be one evening per week expected to be a Monday evening, with a block week in December and a further block week in January.
