Course Overview

This Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Wood Occupations (Construction) qualification is suitable for those who are employed working as a site carpenter.

This qualification enables you, to recognise your skills, knowledge and understanding as well as demonstrate your competence in the workplace when carrying out the role of a site carpenter.


What you will Study

The NOCN_Cskills Awards Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Wood Occupations (Construction) qualification structure below specifies the combination of units that need to be achieved for the individual to be awarded the qualification.

You will complete:

• Conforming to General Health, Safety and Welfare in the Workplace
• Conforming to Productive Working Practices in the Workplace
• Moving, Handling and Storing Resources in the Workplace

In addition, three optional units will be selected from those specified.

This NVQ diploma programme includes learning that relates to the following UN Sustainable Development Goals
Goal 4: Quality Education
Goal 8: decent work and economic growth

Course Structure Classroom based: 5%
Practical work: 15%
Work based: 80%
How you will be Assessed

You will be assessed against a set of performance and knowledge statements which have been derived from National Occupational Standards for your occupational area (Recommended Qualification Structure (RQS) for Wood Occupations (Construction) Level 2).

You will be assessed by an occupationally competent and qualified lecturer/assessor who will work with you and help you complete the qualification.

You will be required to produce a Portfolio of Evidence showing how you have met the performance and knowledge criteria for each unit required within the qualification, as directed by your lecturer/assessor.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements to take this NOCN_Cskills Awards Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Trowel Occupations (Construction) qualification. This qualification can be undertaken without any previous training or qualifications in this subject area.

However, where a level 1 NVQ Diploma in Wood Occupations has not been achieved we would recommend this be taken prior to enrolment on this programme.

Attendance Expectations

This qualification can be attended on a day release basis, attending one day per week expected to be a Friday, for a period of 30 weeks.

Alternatively, attendance can be one evening per week expected to be a Monday evening, with a block week in December and a further block week in January.
