Programme Design and Overview If you are looking at a career in travel and tourism then this course will help you further develop your knowledge and understanding of the sector and support you in pursuing a career within the Travel and Tourism sector.
Indicative Content

The HNC course consists of 120 credits at Level 4 which includes the following:

Mandatory units:
• Travel and Tourism business Toolkit
• Contemporary Issues in Travel and Tourism
• Professional practice
• Tour Operations Management
• Managing Conference and Events
• Travel and Tourism Marketing

Assessment methods are assignment based and may include practical projects including presentations, group activities, written reports or research projects.

Delivery Methods You will learn through a variety of activities including guest speakers, visits to workplaces, University centre lesson based activities and practical application of skills.
Course Structure Classroom based: 100%
Nature of Assessments on the Programme

There are no formal exams on the BTEC Higher National Certificate course.

Most modules will be assessed by a mixture of coursework and end of module tests. Some practical modules are assessed on 100% coursework.

Assessment methods are assignment based and may include practical projects including presentations, group activities, written reports or research projects.

Entry Requirements 48 UCAS points or a full level 3 qualification in a Travel related subject, Access to Higher Education diploma and a satisfactory interview.
Attendance Expectations 16 hours per week over 3-4 days per week.

Printing and photocopying costs:
There is no charge for course hand-outs, handbooks etc. Students will receive a printing credit of £10 per annum from the University Centre, after which students will have to pay for extra credits.

Library overdue charges:
Overdue charges apply to all library loans to encourage you to return any resources you borrow on time. Overdue charges are 5p per day per book.  There is no charge for e-books rentals.

Graduation Ceremony:
When you graduate, we will invite you to your graduation ceremony. It is free for you to attend, however, to take part you will need to pay to hire an academic robe to wear during the ceremony. Details can be found here: www.edeandravenscroft.com/graduation-services.

Career Opportunities The course is intended to provide a higher education foundation for people who are interested in a career in Travel and Tourism so with application of the knowledge and skills gained there are opportunities to progress within the vocational areas or on to further Higher-level study.
