Course Overview
This qualification has been developed in close liaison with industry
specialists, electric vehicle manufacturers, training providers, the health and
safety executive and the IMI Sector Skills Council. This is the first
qualification of its kind to address working on live electric/hybrid vehicle
high voltage vehicle systems and components. The qualification is
essential to ensure the health and safety of individuals working on
electric/hybrid vehicles. On completion of this qualification technicians will
be able to practically demonstrate that they have the skills required for
repairing high voltage vehicle systems and components.
This qualification contains the knowledge of the dangers surrounding repairs
carried out to live high voltage vehicle electrical components and systems. The
purpose and aim of this qualification is to provide technicians working on
electric/ hybrid vehicles with the required level of skills and knowledge to
carry out repairs on live high voltage vehicle electrical components and systems
safely.
What you will Study
This qualification is designed for technicians who maintain and repair electric/hybrid high voltage vehicle systems and components. It contains the knowledge and skills required to work on live high voltage vehicle electrical components and associated systems.
How you will Learn
The course will be a mixture of both practical and theory sessions, working with bespoke training rigs.
Course Structure
Classroom based: 40%
Practical work: 60%
How you will be Assessed
Practical Assessments, oral assessments and written assessment.
Entry Requirements
The unit can only be undertaken after successful completion of Unit EV3 Electric/Hybrid Vehicle System Repair and Replacement and a recommended minimum of 6 months, or by completing the Learner Eligibility form providing evidence of related/relevant experience. This unit does not cover commercial or domestic electrical installations including charging equipment and cables
Attendance Expectations
Day courses will typically be 09:00 – 17:00.
Any online assessments
will be carried out during the afternoon of the second day.
Evening courses will be 17:00 – 21:00.
These are spread over five
evenings, over a two-week period, with any exams completed on the fifth
evening.
