Course Overview This is a practical, highly flexible course specifically designed to meet the needs of learners wishing to acquire welding skills at a beginner level.
What you will Study

You will study the theory and practice of welding in one of the following:-

  • Metal Inert Gas Welding (MIG)
  • Tungsten Inert Gas Welding (TIG)
  • Manual Metal Arc Welding (ARC)
How you will be Assessed You will complete five practical welding test pieces. There is also an oral assessment requiring you to answer questions on welding processes and health and safety.
Entry Requirements There are no formal entry requirements but you will need a keen interest in developing welding skills.
Attendance Expectations You will attend college on a Tuesday evening 6.00 to 9.00pm and Thursday evening 6.00 to 9.00pm.

Further Study City & Guilds 3268 Level 2 Award in Welding Skills or (employment permitting) Performing Engineering Operations NVQ level 2.
