Course Overview

If you’ve got a passion for music and want to broaden your skills and career opportunities through practical learning, then the Rockschool music study programme is right for you.

You will develop your music performance and/or Production skills, gain knowledge of how the current music industry works and learn how to write and sequence your own music using Cubase in several different styles. Also, you will learn how to record bands using ProTools and Logic software, create a range of interesting Podcasts about topics you enjoy and work as an active member of a band working towards a range of performances in internal and external music venues.

Rockschool is the leading accredited provider of rock exams worldwide. Their Vocational Qualifications are taught all over the world  and are renowned for their practicality, flexibility and creativity. Inspired by the legends of rock, their qualifications are created with you, the musician in mind.

You will learn through classroom based and practical work. You will have the opportunity to work in our specialist rehearsal and recording studios. You will also learn by experimenting as an individual but also by collaborating on a variety of projects with other music students.

There will be hands on experience of music technology software and hardware.

  •  Develop key employability skills essential for the music industry (confidence, teamwork, adaptability etc)
  •  How to record live music and perform in a live recording environment
How you will be Assessed You’ll be assessed through performances, practical and theoretical based project work.
Entry Requirements

Predicted GCSE Grades at 9 - 3 including English and Maths
AND
A reasonable degree of musical ability
AND
Interview and audition
AND
A good reference from Head of Year 10 or Headteacher

Further Study

On completion with the appropriate pass and English and maths grades you can progress through the levels.
