Course Overview This course has been built around the needs of employers and is intended to help you to create a portfolio of skills which will improve your future career opportunities. Successful completion will help you to progress either into employment, apprenticeship or onto a Level 3 course in the area of your choice.
What you will Study

You will study towards the Level 2 Work Skills qualification and either GCSE English and Maths or both dependant on need.

The course is made up of Work Skills units, GCSE's and Work Placement.

Work Skills Units include:

  • Teamwork
  • Online Branding
  • C.V. Writing
  • Applying for work
  • Interview Prep
  • Enterprise (Building your own Business)
    And many more!

The course is heavily based around work placement and gaining valuable skills that you can only develop when in work, to ensure you have the best opportunity in securing employment or an apprenticeship. Where possible this will be linked to the subject area you are most interested in, this will be arranged once you have successfully enrolled on to the course.

How you will Learn

You will participate in a variety of activities such as building leadership skills, resilience, team building, personal reflection, target setting and much more. You will also have the opportunity to take part in:

  • Volunteering
  • Work Experience
  • Mock Interviews
  • Workshops with External Companies
  • Presentations
  • Resilience

internal and external College events; open events, careers events, trips and visits to employer sites, guest speaker talks and so much more.

All these activities will broaden your horizons and enhance your CV!

How you will be Assessed

Assessments for the main part is through continued assessment, class-based tasks, presentations, written work, placement and discussions.

For GCSE you will have exams at various times during the academic year.

Entry Requirements Suitable Level 2 Course and minimum of a Grade 3 in either English or Maths.
Further Study Successful completion of this course could lead to a variety of Level 3 courses at the College, an apprenticeship or to employment.
