Course Overview
This course is ideal for highly motivated, committed people wishing to pursue
a career in hairdressing. It will give you a recognised professional
qualification and develop both the practical skills and the knowledge you need
to work as a stylist in the industry. As part of the course you will also
have the opportunity to visit major exhibitions and shows featuring top stylists
and leading manufacturers. If you have a keen interest in hairdressing
this could be the course for you.
Hairdressing skills will be demonstrated and practised in the College salons,
where you will have the opportunity to work on paying clients. The knowledge
required to gain certification will be gained in theory lessons and by
independent study in the library.
What you will Study
The course will cover hairdressing services in theory and practice and will
include:
- Follow Health and Safety in the salon
- Client consultation
- Shampoo and Condition the Hair and Scalp
- Promote Products and Services to Clients in a Salon
- Cut Women's Hair
- Colour and Lighten Hair
- Perm and Neutralise hair
- Art or Dressing Hair
Optional units to be confirmed
How you will be Assessed
You will need to reproduce a portfolio of evidence together with the completion test papers.
Entry Requirements
No formal entry requirements although a successful interview is essential.
Attendance Expectations
One day per week in College - Tuesday (9:30am-6:30pm) and one day per week in a salon placement.
Further Study
Students who successfully achieve the Level 2 Diploma can progress onto Level 3 Hairdressing
