Course Overview

The ILM Level 3 Diploma in Management allows practising or potential first line managers to develop their existing management skills and gain the knowledge, skills, and understanding required to demonstrate their occupational competence.

Your assessor will meet you in the workplace at mutually convenient times and dates. All learning will be conducted on a one-to-one basis.

What You Will Study

Students will study five mandatory units:

  • Manage Personal Performance and Development
  • Manage Team Performance
  • Principles of Leadership and Management
  • Principles of People Management
  • Principles of Business.

Students can then choose to study other topics relevant to their work role from a diverse range of optional units.

How You Will Be Assessed

Competency units will be assessed via the collation of a portfolio of evidence to meet assessment criteria. Evidence could include reflective accounts, professional discussions, witness testimonies, photographs, and work product evidence such as minutes, reports, emails, and procedures.

Knowledge units are assessed via written assignments and professional discussion.

Entry Requirements

English and Maths at Level 2 Functional Skills or GCSE Grade 9-4.

You must be employed in a management role at the appropriate level to enable you to provide evidence of competency in the units identified above. An initial assessment with an assessor will determine your suitability for the course.

Attendance Expectations

You will need to meet with your assessor approximately every four to six weeks. The meetings with your assessor will be a combination of virtual teams meetings and workplace visits.
