The creative industries are the fastest growing part of the UK economy. They are defined by the UK government as “those industries which have their origin in individual creativity, skill and talent and which have a potential for wealth and job creation through the generation and exploitation of intellectual property”. The Film and TV Industry is booming, it has grown more than 72% in value since 2014!

The purpose of BTEC Higher National in Creative Media Production is to develop students as professional, self-reflecting individuals able to meet the demands of employers in the Creative Media Production sector. The course is designed for students who wish to pursue or advance their career in Creative Media Production with a particular focus on Film and Television.

It aims to equip students with the necessary skills, knowledge and understanding to undertake all stages of production across a range of media products from analysis & research to planning, production, post-production and evaluation. Alongside this, students will gain valuable information pertaining to the structure of the Creative Media Production sector and the ability to develop their skills so as to effectively pursue a career within the sector.

The BTEC Higher National qualification in Creative Media Production is aimed at students wanting to continue their education through applied learning. In addition to the knowledge, understanding and skills that underpin the study of Creative Media Production, the course will give students experience of the breadth and depth of the sector and will prepare them for further study or training.

Through practical workshops you will develop a wide range of techniques and skills. Theory-based content will be delivered via formal lectures and seminars.

How you will be Assessed You will be assessed via centre-devised industry linked Live Briefs and Pearson-set assignments throughout the course.
Entry Requirements

Minimum 64 UCAS tariff points from A Levels or a Level 3 Diploma in a related subject.

Those with previous experience or learning that is relevant may be eligible via our Accredited (APL) process for accreditation towards this course. All applicants must complete a satisfactory interview.

Further Study

The Level 5 Higher National Diploma is recognised by Higher Education providers as meeting admission requirements to many relevant Level 6 Creative Media-related courses including the BA(Hons) Creative Industries course at the University Centre at Wakefield College.
