You will explore drawing using a variety of methods and media on a variety of
scales. You will work in one or more areas of Art, such as painting, drawing and
mixed media, including collage and assemblage.
The course is split into two main components:
1. Personal Investigation
This entails students developing skills in all
areas as well as appreciating and learning about historical and contemporary
artists. Work will be underpinned with research and written analysis as well as
a visual work which shows the learning process. Students will then be given the
opportunity to develop their own personal style with individual projects.
2. Externally Set Exam
This is an externally set exam project in which the
student will choose a title and use the skills, creativity and knowledge
developed throughout component to create an innovative piece of work showing
creativity and the ability to understand and use photographic equipment and
language. This is a course work-based project, yet there is a period of 15 hours
silent working in exam conditions.
