Course Overview

This course is for people who work with young children in early years settings. This maybe in a nursery, or school Foundation Unit, or as a Childminder for example.

Your course is organised on an individual basis. You will plan your work with your assessor who will support you to achieve. You will be set regular deadlines and will receive feedback and support on a regular basis.

What You Will Study
  • You will look at keeping children safe and well
  • Inclusion and equality
  • Child development and behaviour in detail, and how to help children progress in all areas. To do this you will study the EYFS, Theorists and demonstrate how you put this in to practice
  • You will learn about team work, working alongside other professionals and parents
  • You will continuously reflect on your practice and personal development
How You Will Be Assessed

Your assessor will set you deadlines for your written tasks which are then assessed. There are also assessments of your performance in your workplace.

You are expected to meet at regular intervals with your assessor.

Entry Requirements

You need to be working in a childcare setting. A requirement of the course is to have obtained a minimum Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Maths by the time you complete.

Attendance Expectations

You will normally meet with your assessor once a month.
