Course Overview

Equivalent to three A-Levels, this T Level is a 2-year course and has been developed in collaboration with employers and businesses so that the content meets the needs of industry and prepares you for work. You'll spend 80% of your time in the classroom and 20% on a minimum 45-day placement with an employer to give you the skills and knowledge healthcare providers look for.

Every T Level will include an industry placement with an employer focused on developing your practical and technical skills, required for your future occupation. These will last a minimum of 315 hours (approximately 45 days) but can last longer. Employers can offer industry placements as a block, day release or a mix of these, and can discuss sharing part of the placement with another employer if necessary.

We have worked in partnership with employers and other stakeholders to elaborate the content further, create the assessments and set the standards to ensure students achieve the level of competence needed to enter skilled employment.

You will spend 60% of your time in taught sessions, which will involve simulation of real working experiences along with formal teaching.

The remaining 40% of your time will be in your industry placement. Whilst here you will be able to put your new knowledge into practice, developing your skills over the 2 years in preparation for your final formal assessments.

What you will Study

Your course starts with the essential knowledge and skills to work in health or science including how the industry works, core scientific concepts and key regulations including managing information, health and safety and good scientific/clinical practice. You will specialise in supporting healthcare and you will focus on the care of supporting adult nursing.

Specialist knowledge and skills that will be covered on this course include assisting with clinical tasks and treatment of service users, providing care and support to service users before, during and after clinical or therapeutic procedures and taking a physiological reading of service users and recording data.

Throughout your studies, you will complete several assessments including exams, coursework and synoptic assessments and a reviewed industry-led employer project.

In addition to this, maths, English and general digital skills will be integrated within the qualification in occupationally relevant contexts. These are key aspects towards future employment, study and mandatory towards your T-level qualification.

How you will be Assessed
  • Core Paper A – Health – End point assessment
  • Core Paper B – Science (including biology, chemistry and physics) – End point assessment
  • Employer Set Project – A series of assessments over a two-week window, under controlled conditions and assessed by the exam board

You will complete an employer-set project. This will ensure that you have the opportunity to apply core knowledge and skills to develop a substantial piece of work in response to an employer-set brief. The brief and tasks are contextualised around an occupational area relating to Health.

Second year assessment:

Synoptic Assessment. You will complete an occupational specialism component which includes a case study assessment, 2 practical activities assessments: one for the core Supporting healthcare, and one for the occupational specialism and finally, a professional discussion.

On full completion you will receive a T-level statement of achievement detailing the individual grades for the different elements.

Entry Requirements

5 GCSEs Grade 9 - 4 including English, Maths and Science.
