Whether you're a community coach wanting to develop your abilities or an
aspiring coach to elite athletes, this course will put your knowledge into
practice and ensure you help people participating in sport achieve their full
potential.
This may involve supporting professional sports people, sports teams,
community teams, or school groups and working closely with them to improve their
individual and group performance. The programme includes sport science and
coaching modules to ensure you have a good understanding of the theory that
underpins sports performance.
Employability is a key theme of the programme and the team are currently
working closely with many professional teams such as Wakefield Trinity,
Wakefield AFC and a number of key providers for students to undertake voluntary
work to complement their academic programme.
We understand the pressures of balancing your career and education so we have
designed this course around you. We have created a curriculum to fit around your
training and work commitments so you can still continue to work whilst gaining a
full time degree.
You will learn through a mixture of lectures, seminars, case studies,
simulations/role play, work-based projects, self-directed study and research.
Guest speakers and industry visits will enhance your learning and application of
this into work-based situations.
You will be expected to undertake 10 hours per week of self-directed study
per module. You will also receive three hours per week of student support where
you will receive pastoral and academic guidance and study skills.
